We take pride in creating UNIQUE minimal arrangements with design influences from ikebana and the West Coast lifestyle. From romantic and moody, to wild and muted, or modern and edgy, the sky is the limit when it comes to our designs.

Going into our 7th season, we can be found in two locations in Northern California. Our main studio is in San Francisco and our second studio is located in Grass Valley. However, Ash + Oak will travel anywhere for your event or wedding within Northern California and beyond. So far, we have traveled to Vermont, Massachusetts, Washington, Oklahoma, Mexico, and Antigua to design one of a kind floral art.

Sustainability is our GOAL!

We buy only seasonal flowers to prevent extra carbon footprint. At Ash + Oak, we purchase 50% of our flowers from local organic farmers. The other 50% is sourced locally. We will not and do not buy flowers that need to be brought in just for your wedding.

At our studio, we are very conscious of our waste and how our business affects the environment. We compost, recycle, and reuse as much as we can.

In 2020 75% of our vases will be supplied by local artists. Each year we source a few new options for our inventory that we will use for all 30 weddings. We love thrifting one of kind pieces for our one time deliveries and for statement arrangements.

We do not use any extra unnecessary plastic such as water tubes for large installations. This does limit us to certain designs during hot summer days but we have a few tricks up our sleeves.

We are not 100% foam free as our style and designs sometimes do call for more structure than other mechanics. However, we are constantly searching and practicing new ways to become 100% foam free.

If you can’t reuse your flowers for your thank you brunch then we will donate them to our local hospice next to Ashley’s home in Grass Valley.

ASHLEY MUELLER

FOUNDER AND ART DIRECTOR

Ashley was born in the Pacific Northwest. Her love for nature, hiking and exploring was the start to her floral design career. Ashley attended the Art Institute of Portland where she studied fashion. Once she left the beautiful Northwest to move to Oakland she realized her love for fashion was not as strong as she hoped. Pondering the idea of which career path to take she quickly remembered one of her favorite jobs. In 2004, she worked in a local market where she looked over fresh flowers. It was no shock that working with beautiful plants was meant to be. Ashley reached out to her favorite floral design studio in the Bay Area in 2013 for an internship. Quickly she was learning and loving every moment and Ash + Oak began in 2014. When Ashley is not working with flowers or cuddling with her pups she is hiking, at shows or shopping for unique and one of a kind vases.
