SAVE YOUR MONEY

DON’T INVEST IN WEDDING FAVORS

As a wedding florist, we often come back to the venue at the end of the evening to collect our vases and guess what we noticed the guest forgets, "the wedding favors." Ding, ding, ding you win a PRIZE. The idea of favors is so sweet, but in reality, most of your guest don’t remember to take them or don’t want them. Who besides your family wants a framed photo of the two of you or another wine glass charm with your face on it.

Just think if you paid $2 per person for a favor, and your guest count is 150 you spent $300. You could have used towards a better photographer or making your ceremony arch bigger. Below are a few examples we have noticed left behind at the venue, costing you lots of money.

We all get hung up on Pinterest and Etsy, leading us down wedding inspo rabbit holes causing you to spend a lot of money on nothing. Etched wine glasses with your initials and date sound super cool, but what are you going to do when 50 wine glasses are left behind? Do you really need that many wine glasses stored in your cupboard until your 50th wedding anniversary? I’m sorry I leave in the Bay Area and we don’t have extra space to store anything that’s not been used daily. So you will be watching your money head to the goodwill. If you want to buy personalize glassware make sure it has your guest name on it only. Don’t include your wedding date just their name.

We aren't saying all favors suck, trust me we have seen a lot of rad favors, but you don't need to order one for each guest or personalize it. If you do decided on getting a favor, place it in a basket or on a table on the way out, making it easy for your guest to grab one on the way to the car or Uber. That way, you only need to supply 1 per couple. Look we just saved your $150.

If you decide to place it on the table as decor trust me, 75% of your guest will not go back to the table once the dancing and drinks start flowing. If the favor won't fit in a tiny purse or a coat pocket, it's probably not making it home. Every time I have attended a wedding, I wear a dress and usually don't bring a purse, just a clutch. That means no room for that mini bottle of oil olive you spent $5 per bottle on.

Trust me, I have been to a LOT of weddings, and I have only saved one favor that I can remember. The one and only favor I kept was small hand drawing cartoon of me on a magnet and was also used as my escort card.
