10 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR FLORIST

10 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR FLORIST

As you plan your wedding and floral arrangements, it's essential to ask your florist the right questions to ensure your special day is everything you envisioned. Here are 10 critical questions to ask your florist:

1. How long do you need to set up?

It's essential for your florist and you to know how long they have to set up the floral arrangements and decor for your ceremony and reception. This will determine how many and what style of installations you can have.

2. Do we get to keep the vases and flowers at the end of the night?

Some florists may offer the option to keep the vases and flowers at the night's end, while others may not. It's important to clarify this with your florist to avoid confusion. At Ash + Oak, we offer both. For our Luxe event, we prefer to use handmade vessels which are rentals but for our Intimate and Elope packages we have several options for you to rent or keep.

3. Are my requests realistic for my budget?

Having an honest conversation with your florist about your budget and whether your requests are realistic is crucial. Your florist can offer suggestions on how to make the most of your budget while still creating a beautiful and memorable floral design.

4. What are your favorite flowers to use during the season I’m getting married?

Your florist's favorite flowers can provide insight into what will be in season during your wedding and what will work well with your chosen color palette and theme.

5. What style/flowers are best for the weather/location we plan to get married in?

Your florist can recommend floral arrangements and styles that will hold up well in the weather and location where you plan to get married. For example, if you plan to get married outside near the beach or other windy areas we don’t recommend airy bud vases, and if you can’t live without them then we recommend ceramic as they won’t blow over.

6. We are over budget; what can/should we cut to make this work?

If you are over budget, your florist can suggest what to cut or adjust for the most bang or your buck. We want to ensure you put your money where your guests will spend the most time. For example, if you ar planning on having a short (15 minutes or less) ceremony, then don’t waste your money on a huge installation. Put that money into lush centerpieces where your guest will hang out the longest. Or maybe the dance floor if your crew are Dancing Queens.

7. What color palette works well with these plates, tables, etc?

Your florist can help you choose a color palette that complements your venue, decor, and overall wedding theme. Just because your bridesmaid’s dresses are blush doesn’t mean the whole wedding has to be. Add at least 3 other tones if you aren’t sticking with white.

8. What’s the next new trend?

Floral trends are constantly evolving, and your florist can provide insights into what's currently popular and what may be up and coming in the world of wedding florals. Even if you don’t want to be trendy, it’s still good to ask to ensure you avoid the trends.

9. What do YOU think we should plan for, given our budget?

Your florist is an expert in floral design and can suggest how to create stunning floral arrangements that fit your budget.

10. What do you think we should do, given our preferred color palette and time of year?

Your florist can suggest which flowers and colors will work best during the time of year you're getting married and your venue’s surroundings. Dessert vibes are totally different than fall woodland vibes.

By asking these questions and taking advantage of your florist's expertise, you can create a beautiful and memorable wedding that reflects your personal style and vision. And don't forget to ask your vendors for recommendations for other vendors. They often know the best of the best and can help make your planning process even smoother.
