UNVEILING the Beauty and Ease of Destination Weddings in Mexico

Tips and Tricks from Ash + Oak

If you're considering a destination wedding in Mexico but don't know where to begin, you're not alone. Planning a destination wedding can be overwhelming, particularly if you don't speak the language or are struggling to find vendors that align with your wedding vision. This was a common issue that our clients and friends encountered when contemplating a Mexico wedding that wasn't a hotel package. So, we made the decision to expand our business and establish a second headquarters in Mexico.

Half of Ash + Oak has relocated to Mexico to streamline and enhance your wedding planning experience. Ashley has been traveling to different venues and meeting with vendors throughout the country to make the planning process easy for you. From Cabo to Mexico City to Oaxaca, she is building relationships and sourcing the finest products for your event. It's worth noting that there are several advantages to hosting your wedding in Mexico. Firstly, venues are typically more affordable than those in the United States. In major cities, notable rental companies offer prices that are half what you would typically pay. While the cost of flowers is similar to that of the States, if you're looking for a designer-style look, it's definitely achievable. The food in Mexico is incredible, and most venues permit partying beyond 10 pm.

Mexico is home to many talented photographers, but it's not too expensive to fly one in from the United States if you are in love with someone. However, don't overlook the quick Instagram search for Mexican photographers - you might find a gem and save money on travel fees so you can splurge on an extended honeymoon.

When it comes to music, finding hip DJs can be challenging, but we have some excellent bands to recommend for Baja weddings.

We highly recommend finding a coordinator who is familiar with working in Mexico and is bilingual. Alternatively, you could consider someone with two locations as we have. It's important to keep in mind that local Mexican wedding vendors typically operate on a slower response time than what we're accustomed to in the United States. While this may cause some initial panic, which can be a good thing, as it allows for a more relaxed and enjoyable wedding planning experience. If that’s your style.

However, if you prefer a quicker response time, it's advisable to book someone who is from the States and has experience working in Mexico. This way, you can have the best of both worlds and receive timely responses while still benefiting from the local knowledge and expertise of a Mexican vendor. In any case, having a coordinator who understands the unique challenges and opportunities of hosting a wedding in Mexico is essential for a stress-free and unforgettable experience. All in all, Mexico is a fantastic destination for a wedding, with plenty of cost-effective options and high-quality vendors to make your special day unforgettable.
