Designing Florals that Reflect the Space
When designing florals for a wedding, the venue itself can be one of the most powerful sources of inspiration. The architecture, ambiance, and character of the space should guide the aesthetic decisions, ensuring the flowers feel cohesive and intentional rather than forced. For a recent wedding in Napa Valley, we took exactly that approach.
While Napa is known for its sprawling vineyards and rustic charm, this particular venue was a modern space with sleek lines, polished finishes, and minimalist design. Rather than leaning into traditional vineyard aesthetics, we embraced the venue’s contemporary feel by curating a collection of modern white florals with layered textures to create a fresh yet refined look.
Modern Florals for a Modern Space
To complement the venue's architectural elegance, we opted for a sleek palette of all-white blooms. This monochromatic approach allowed texture and structure to take center stage. Sculptural grasses, delicate ranunculus, and crisp nerines were paired with misty and baby’s breath. By blending these elements, we created arrangements that felt luxurious yet contemporary—a perfect reflection of the venue's modern aesthetic.
Playing with Shape and Negative Space
To mirror the clean lines of the venue, we emphasized intentional design with sculptural arrangements. Tall, structured stems, curved dried grasses, and asymmetrical designs added movement while leaving space to breathe, evoking a sense of modern elegance. Architectural vessels in sleek ceramic and black finishes grounded the arrangements with an understated yet impactful presence.
Elevating the Guest Experience
The floral design didn’t just complement the venue—it enhanced the entire guest experience. By aligning the florals with the space's sleek design, the arrangements created a cohesive ambiance that felt intentional and luxurious. The result was an atmosphere that felt elevated yet inviting, effortlessly blending contemporary elegance with timeless romance.
When designing florals for a wedding, embracing the venue's unique characteristics is key. By allowing the space to guide the design direction, you create an experience that feels curated, thoughtful, and harmonious. In this case, our decision to lean into the venue's modern aesthetic with sculptural white florals resulted in a design that was both bold and beautiful—proof that inspiration is often right in front of you.
